Silibistro Jibladze

Silibistro (Silva) Jibladze

Silibistro Jibladze (1859–1922) was a Georgian Social Democrat.

Silibistro "Silva" Jibladze was the Marxist founder of Mesame Dasi ('Third Group'), a Georgian socialist group. At one point he was introduced to Joseph Stalin. In 1884 whilst at the Tbilisi Spiritual Seminary, Jibladze slapped the rector of the institution. The rector had described the Georgian language as "dogspeak".[1] For this he was sentenced to three years in a disciplinary battalion[2]
