Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences, also known simply as Shoolini University, is a private university located near the village Bajol in Solan district, Himachal Pradesh, India. It is run under the aegis of Foundation of Life Sciences and Business Management.

The university has been awarded research projects from government bodies like DST, ICMR, DRDO, DAE, MNRE.[1]

History

Shoolini University was established in 2009 as India's first biotechnology university.

Academics

The university has a research driven model and offers programmes in Biotechnology, Management Sciences, Liberal Arts, Engineering, Sciences, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Accreditation

The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC)[2] and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).[3] In 2016, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council accredited the university as B++.[4]

Guru Series of Lecture

Robert Huber lecturing in the Guru Series of Lecture

Named after the Paramahansa Yogananda, the university has initiated a novel lecture series under the banner of 'Guru Series of Lectures'. Luminaries from various fields are called to the institution to address the students and faculty on topics of their interest. Some of the speakers who have visited under this lecture series include Nobel Laureate Robert Huber, India's first woman IPS Officer Kiran Bedi, Kamal Davar and World Food Prize winner Howarth Bouis.

International Dialogue on Himalayan Ecology

The university in association with 'Dialogue Highway' hosted the first International Dialogue on Himalayan Ecology om its campus from 30-31 January to 1 February 2016. The event brought together activists, experts, academicians, policymakers, environmentalists, scientists, students, and civil society. National Green Tribunal Chairman Justice Swatanter Kumar, Vice Chancellor of several universities including Panjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Grover; Professor Tej Pratap, former Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University; Dr Shekhar Pathak of PAHAR, Nanital and many more.[14][15][16]
