Sri.Shivendra Bijoy Malla Deb ,Hon'ble Chairman of Jhargram Municipality

Shivendra Bijoy Malla Deb (শিবেন্দ্র বিজয় মল্ল দেব), also known as Durgesh Da (দুর্গেশ দা), is an Indian politician. He is from Jhargram, West Bengal.[1]

Early life

He was born in Kolkata on November 11 1956 and belongs to the Royal family of Jhargram. He is the eldest grandson of Raja Narasingha Malla Deb and is an alumnus of the prestigious Rajkumar College, Raipur and St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.[2]

Career

He serves as Chairman of Jhargram Municipality (ঝাড়গ্রাম পৌরসভা).[3] He has held the chair since 2013 as well as Councillor of the No.10 Ward, Jhargram Municipality. He is the working President of the All India Trinamool Congress in Jhargram district.[4] Shivendra contested the West Bengal Legislative Assembly election, 2006 from Jhargram,he was defeated by his nearest rival Amar Basu of Communist Party of India.[5]
He was among the 11 Trinamool Congress political leaders in West Bengal who received threats from Maoists,hence he is provided with a heavily armed security group by the West Bengal Home Department[6] .
