Shin Hye-sun (born August 31, 1989) is a South Korean actress. She made her debut in the television series School 2013 and acted her first protagonist role in My Golden Life (2017).

Career

Shin Hye-sun debuted as an actress through the TV drama School 2013, an installment of the long-running School series, after successfully passing the audition to cast a few schoolgirl roles. She played a minor character with the same name as hers.[1]

Shin began to land bigger roles in 2015 with Oh My Ghost and She Was Pretty.[2][3] Though both titles were romantic comedies, her characters varied significantly.[4]

Her breakthrough came in 2016 with Five Enough.[5] Both her role as a gullible, naively-romantic woman and her pairing with actor Sung Hoon gained popularity among the viewers.[6] The same year, she starred in the fantasy romance drama The Legend of the Blue Sea.[7]

In 2017, she played her first leading film role in A Day.[8] Shin then played a key figure in an acclaimed crime thriller series Stranger.[9][10] Soon after, she was cast in a protagonist role for the first time with KBS2's drama My Golden Life.[11] The drama was a major hit in South Korea and surpassed 40% ratings,[12] leading to increased recognition for Shin.[13][14]

In 2018, Shin was cast in the 4-episode drama special Death Song in the role of Yun Sim-deok.[15] She also starred in the romance comedy drama Thirty But Seventeen.[16]
