Shawn Darnell Fonteno, also known as Solo, is an American actor and rapper who is best known as the voice and the acting performer of Franklin Clinton from the video game Grand Theft Auto V.[1] Fonteno's performance in Grand Theft Auto V was mainly recorded using motion capture technology.[1]

Early life

Fonteno was raised in Watts, Los Angeles. He joined a number of gangs and sold drugs, but a near-fatal shooting prompted him to seek a career in music and acting.[1] He is cousins with Young Maylay, who voiced Carl Johnson, the protagonist of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.[2]

Acting career

Fonteno has also acted in films such as The Wash.[3]
