Shatasha Williams
Shatasha Williams is an American singer who achieved prominence singing the hook from the 1994 Bone Thugs-n-Harmony single "Thuggish Ruggish Bone." She was scouted by the band in the street while they were recording their first record with Eazy-E in Cleveland, Ohio. After the success of "Thuggish Ruggish Bone," she was signed to Ruthless Records by Eazy-E, with whom she released one single, "Free," in 1995. She currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
Discovery
The members of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony met Williams on the street while taking a smoke break during the recording of their debut EP Creeping on ah Come Up. According to Krayzie Bone,
"We were working on the song, and we were gonna do the chorus ourselves. We stepped outside the studio after we did our verses, we were outside smoking, and she was walking down the street and asked us if it was a recording studio. We said yeah, it was Eazy-E’s studio, and she was like, “Oh my gosh, well I can sing!” We were like, “Oh yeah?” and we told her to sing something for us. And it was crazy, so we asked her to sing the chorus. So we brought her in and Eazy was asking who she was and we told her she could sing and we wanted to see how she sounded singing the hook. So we had her sing the chorus and we were all looking at her with our mouths open, and Eazy knew that was it, and told them to record her right then. She just walked in off the street."[1]
