Sharon Blynn is an American actress and cancer activist. She was noted for her activities for "Bald is Beautiful" , an organization founded by herself for ovarian cancer awareness programs, and her bald appearances in the public.

Early life

Sharon Blynn was born on 1972 in New York City. She was grown up in Miami and had her graduation from Columbia University in Ethnomusicology. She worked as a marketing executive for Verve Records from 1994 to 2000.[1]

Cancer Activism

In 2000 she was diagonised with ovarian cancer. After three years of constant treatment and struggle, Sharon survived cancer in 2003. Inspired by her own life and struggles, Sharon founded an organisation named Bald in Beautiful in 2003. The main objectives of the origination are eradication the existing social notions in beauty and femininity, and ovarian cancer awareness programs. Sharon has remained bald since 2003 believing that it will be the most effective way to spread the motto of her organization.[2]

For past 12 years, Sharon is working relentlessly as a cancer activist. In November 2009, she spoke at the “Lo Que de Verdad Importa (What Really Matters)” program presented by the Madrid-based Ademas Organization. She was the host and interviewee for “The Whisper,” a documentary about ovarian cancer which was aired on PBS in September 2010.

Awards and Recognitions

For her activities, Sharon was awarded the Lilly Tartikoff/EIF Hope Award at the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship’s 2010 Rays of Hope gala. She was also awarded the Braveheart Women's Association Courage Award in 2011. Lifetime TV honored Sharon by selecting her as one of the "Remarkable Women" in their Every Woman Counts series.

Film and Television

Sharon's bald appearances and activities has attained wide media attention. As a result, she was selected to be a part of many fashion weeks, TV shows and films.
