Shannon Phillips (born September 4, 1975) is a Canadian politician who was elected in the 2015 Alberta general election to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta representing the electoral district of Lethbridge-West.[2] On May 24, 2015 she was sworn in as the Minister of Environment and Parks and Minister Responsible for the Status of Women in the Alberta Cabinet.[3] She also serves as the Deputy House Leader for the NDP Caucus. Phillips previously ran in the 2012 general election losing to PC incumbent Greg Weadick.

Life and career

Phillips is an economic policy analyst who worked for the Alberta Federation of Labour, where she did much work on energy and environment-related matters.[4] She also served as chair of the group Womanspace Lethbridge.[2] She has two sons.[2] Phillips is also known as Gnome Stompsky #4746 when she is playing Roller derby with the Lethbridge Roller Derby Guild for the Deathbridge Derby Dames team.[5] Phillips is conversational in French.[6] She is a single mother with two children.[1]
