Shanica Channell Knowles (born in Miami, Florida on November 17, 1990) is an American actress and singer, best known for her roles in Surviving Compton, Jump In!, and Hannah Montana. Despite numerous reports and sharing the last name, she has stated that she is unaware of any relation to singers Beyoncé and Solange Knowles.[1]

Career

Her first major appearance on television was as Vanessa in Unfabulous. She was later in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Jump In! as Shauna Keaton, alongside Corbin Bleu and Keke Palmer. In 2007, she played a small role in Super Sweet 16: The Movie. She played Amber Addison on the Disney Channel television show Hannah Montana. Most recently she starred as Tichina Arnold in the Lifetime biopic Surviving Compton.[2][3]

She appears as recurring character, Simone Burch, on long-running CBS soap opera, The Young and the Restless and will co-star in Freeform's Life-Size 2 in December 2018 opposite Tyra Banks and Francia Raisa.[4]
