Shamsul Islam (1 January 1931 – 26 April 2018)[1] was a Bangladeshi politician, member of the Nationalist Party and the onetime Government Minister in Bangladesh.
Career
Islam served as the Minister of Information in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party government in the First Khaleda Cabinet from 1991 to 1996,[2] and in the Second Khaleda Cabinet from 2001 to 2006.[3] He was a member of the Standing Committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Party and one of the accused in the GATCO corruption case along with the former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.[4]
Personal life
Islam was married to Anwara Sufia Islam. She pre-deceased him on 3 June 2015.[3]
Death
Islam died in a hospital in Dhaka on 26 April 2018, aged 87.[5]
