Shah Alam Antlers Football Club is a Malaysian semi-professional football club based in Shah Alam, Selangor that competes in the Klang Valley League, Shah Alam division. Founded in September 2016 and the club's home ground is Panasonic Sports Complex Stadium or Antlersland in Seksyen 21, Shah Alam.[1][2][3]

Antlers had their first silverware in 2017, when they won the Klang Valley League in their debut season with one match to spare and 4 points clear above their close rival, Terrapins. They also finished the league with an unbeaten run, 14 wins and 1 draw.[4]

Rivalries and Local derby

Shah Alam Antlers is also having a rivalry with other club from the city, named Shah Alam United. This rivalry is also known as "Shah Alam Derby".

Creation Of The Club

Ideas

The club itself was founded on several of their ideas. The first was to increase the transparency, professionalism and code of conduct that is sorely missed within the Malaysian professional scene.

Next was to incite change at an institutional level, as the founders of the club did not have the means to buy over a pre-existing club, they thought to start their own and begin to change the way things are done from the ground up.

Thirdly, it is to reach out to talented individuals who have been left behind by the crevices of the current footballing infrastructure, and to those who have also been overlooked by their respective state teams.

Lastly, their vision is to get more communities involved within the Malaysian football scene, to repair the current disconnect many supporters have with their hometown clubs.[5]

Targets

But now the real question is: what are the club’s targets? Long story short, it is to make it to the apex of local football, the Malaysia Super League. In order to make it to the very top, they must first start from the beginning, which is the Liga Bolasepak Rakyat (4th tier of Malaysian football) and the 1st division of the Selangor State League (4th tier of Malaysian football).

From there, the only way is up and will look towards qualifying for the Malaysia FAM League, which is the 3rd tier of the local leagues, and the first professional league. As time goes on, the sky is the limit for the Shah Alam-based team and only the Super League will be able to satiate the hunger of the founders and the team involved.

Due to the ideals they were founded upon, the club will be looking to recruit local talent to improve them. They have recently held their open selections at Panasonic Sports Complex, on the October 2. As the start of the Selangor and Rakyat Leagues draw near, the Shah Alam Antlers will not have much time to prepare for their opposition.

500 people showed up to the selections. From those that came, a total of 50 were taken from the trials to the next stage. From the final selections, they will choose their final 25 squad.

Stadium

Shah Alam Antlers are based at JKR Stadium, located in Seksyen 17, Shah Alam. All their home matches as well as training sessions will be from within the confines of the complex. The stadium can currently hold a maximum capacity of about 400 people, but with the growth of the club and their fan base, the expansion of seating will not only be demanded, but also a requirement.

Sponsorship

Shah Alam Antlers are sponsored by a number of firms in different kinds of fields.[6] These sponsorships also include partnerships in taking the club to higher levels.

In terms of venue, Shah Alam Antlers are sponsored by MBSA, the owners of their stadium where they play their home matches. 100plus is the official isotonic drink sponsor for the club, agreeing to a 1-year sponsorship in late 2016. To engage with people online and boost their popularity, Shah Alam Antlers also have media partnerships with Asiana.my , an agency well known in Malaysia for sports photography and SemuanyaBola, a famous football online portal in Malaysia. Shah Alam Antlers also have a partnership with Homebois Hub where they make merchandises such as t-shirts, scarves and other club related merchandises.
