Shabnam Ferdousi (born 15 January 1972)[1] is a Bangladeshi filmmaker. She won Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Award and Anannya Top Ten Awards (2009).[2][3] She won the Best Shorts award in the 14th Rainbow International Film Festival for the documentary Bishkabbyo.[1] As of January 2018, she has made 18 documentaries and an independent film Ichchha Bashanta.[4]

Education and career

Ferdousi graduated from the University of Dhaka.[4] She started her career as a model.[2] In 1996, she joined Zahir Raihan's Film Society. In 1999, she became part of a short film forum and later in 2000 she participated in the first documentary film course in Bangladesh.[2]

In 2009, Ferdousi was elected president of Bangladesh Documentary Council for a two-year term.[5]

Ferdousi worked as a program editor for the television channel Ekattor TV.[1]
