Seminole Towne Center is 1,136,579 square feet (105,591.6 m2) and was built alongside Brandon Town Center in 1995 located 20 miles north of Orlando, Florida in the suburban community of Sanford. Owned and managed by Washington Prime Group, the mall is anchored by JCPenney, Macy's, Dillard's, Dick's Sporting Goods and Burlington Coat Factory.

History

The mall opened in 1995 with Dillard's, JCPenney, Sears, Burdines, (now Macy's since 2005), and Parisian (became McRae's in 2004 and Belk in 2006 instead of becoming Belk in 2007 like most of the other Parisian stores, and following the store's closure in 2010, now Burlington and Dick's Sporting Goods since 2012).[3][4] Dillard's also opened stores at Pembroke Lakes Mall and Brandon Town Center at the time of the mall's opening, while Parisian opened another Florida store at The Avenues a year before the mall’s opening. Ivey's also signed but it was bought out by Dillard's before the mall was built.[5]

On May 8, 2009, Orlando Business Journal reported the coming addition of a 20,000-square-foot (1,900 m2) H&M store, which was the second in Florida, with the first being at The Florida Mall.[6] Additionally, Sears closed the lower level of its anchor store at the center in 2012 and that space is now vacant. Washington Prime Group, acquired Seminole Towne Center along with Boynton Beach Mall, Edison Mall, Orange Park Mall, Paddock Mall, and Melbourne Square in May 2014.[7] In 2015, 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2) of retail space near Macy's was cleared and converted into an Athletic Apex health club, which opened in 2016.

On May 31, 2018, Sears announced that it's store would be closing as part of a plan to close 63 stores nationwide. The store closed on September 2, 2018.[8]
