Scythris falkovitshi is a moth species of the family Scythrididae. It was described by Kari Nupponen in 2009. It is found in Uzbekistan.[1] The habitat consists of edges of saline deserts with halophytic vegetation.
Description
The wingspan is 10-10.5 mm. The forewing ground colour is creamy white with dark brown scales forming the following pattern: distinct spots in the fold at 0.2, 0.35 and 0.55, at 0.15 and 0.3 in the costa, and at 0.25 in the dorsum. There are three more or less incomplete oblique fascia at midwing, at 0.7 and subapically. The hindwings are pale fuscous.
Etymology
The species is dedicated to Dr. Mark I. Falkovitsh, a Russian lepidopterist who discovered several new taxa of Scythrididae from the deserts of Uzbekistan in the 1960s.[2]
