Scott K. Silverman[2] is a professor of chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He joined the Department of Chemistry in 2000 as Assistant Professor, was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2006,[3] and was promoted to Professor in 2010.[4]

His main research interest is in the identification, characterization, and application of deoxyribozymes, DNA used as a catalyst.[5] According to Google Scholar, he has 38 publications with at least 38 citations. His most-cited article in this field is Silverman SK, "In vitro selection, characterization, and application of deoxyribozymes that cleave RNA", Nucleic Acids Research 2005, 33: 6151-6163; doi: 10.1093/nar/gki930 with 167 citations.[6]
