Sayed Umerali Shihab AlHussainy Pookoya Thangal was an Islamic leader from Kerala, India.

Life

He was the second son of Panakkad Pookkoya Thangal and younger brother of the Indian Union Muslim League former President, Pankkad Sayed Mohammedali Shihab Thangal.

Thangal was the qadi of Wayanad, Kerala.[1] He was the chairman of the Kerala Waqf Board and president of the Sunni Yuvajana Sangham.[2][3]

He was the vice president of Samastha Kerala Jam'iyyathul Ulama. He was the president of Duraul Huda Islamic University from 1993 until his death. He also served as a Court member of Aligarh Muslim University.

Thangal died at Malappuram of cancer on 3 July 2008, aged 68.[4][5]
