History

The Saraperos arrived in the Mexican League in 1970. They originated at a dinner held by the members of the Committee for Construction of the Cathedral of Saltillo, whose president was Don Jorge Torres Casso. The meeting began by requesting data on the cost of the franchise, for player purchase and other details required for those wishing to start an interesting adventure in the king of sports.

With the support of the Governor and the Mayor of Saltillo, joined the first directive of Saraperos with Don Jorge Torres Casso as president, Mr. Flavio Trevino, Javier López del Bosque and Gustavo Lara Ramos as vice-presidents; Eleazar Galindo, Flores Valdez Eustolio treasurer and as secretary.

The Saraperos have been the most successful club in the 1999-2005 phase of the Mexican League, being the leader in health club league level and standing to qualify for the playoffs in every one of the 7 seasons carried out in that period, playing exciting postseason series.

They were the two-time champions of the Northern Zone, titles won in 2004 and 2005.

In these past seven seasons, the Saraperos' performances have had renowned players such as Luis Ayala, the extraordinary Mexican pitcher who after shining with the Green Team made it to the majors with the Montreal Expos, now the Washington Nationals. He was champion in 1980, 2009 and 2010, runner-up in 1971, 1972, 1973, 1988, 2004 and 2005. Madero, the transmission of all team games across the Channel 7 television in Saltillo and promoting the assistance of families stadiums. The 1999 season was a resounding success which Saltillo Plaza became the most attended of the season and after four years they achieved their qualification to the playoffs with the third place in the General Table quarterfinals and eliminated in 6 games the Campeche Pirates . Already in the semifinals faced the Mexico Red Devils in 7 torrid encounters where the capital moved to what would later become the championship of the 1999 season. Since then Saraperos been rated 12 times in a row to play-off.

It is said that there was a curse on the Saraperos of Saltillo in the era law "will not be champions Saraperos until Francisco" Paquin "Estrada Saltillo is the manager." Proof of this is that "Paquin" was the manager of the Pirates of Campeche in the 2004 final. Currently "Paquin" Estrada is the manager of the Chihuahua Dorados archrival property of "Chinese" Law, Jose Maiz Garcia.

Also fell to the team Serape "The Curse of the Anabe" (union formed by disgruntled players in 1980), as the outbreak of the strike suspended Mexican League season in 1980, the League decides to conduct an extraordinary season mini-championship or Saraperos Saltillo which stands as champion.

Yet despite these "curses" that fell in the team, in the 2009 season, lidereados by manager Orlando Sanchez, achieved the absolute championship longed Mexican Baseball League, managing to win in 6 games Tigers team Quintana Roo.
