Sangam Vihar Vidhan Sabha constituency is one of the 70 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the National Capital Territory in northern India.

Overview

Present geographical structure of Sangam Vihar constituency came into existence in 2008 as a part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002.[1]

Sangam Vihar is part of South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency along with nine other Vidhan Sabha segments, namely, Bijwasan, Ambedkar Nagar, Chhatarpur, Deoli, Kalkaji, Tughlakabad, Palam, Badarpur and Mehrauli. Around 1.5 million lived there. There is only one government school for around 5 lakh people. Water supply is from Sonia Vihar and government tube wells. There are various free government dispensaries and 2 Hospitals (Batra Hospital & Majeedia hospital) is within 1 KM.

It is one of the major parts of South Delhi and has large areas of forest, densely populated residential areas and unused land connected on the other side with Haryana borders. But still, government and corporation interactions in this area are very limited. The development of the area has been ignored by mostly all the governments of Delhi along with DDA(ruled by central govt.) and MCD(ruled by BJP) in the past. And the present AAP Govt, MCD(BJP) me, DDA(LG through Central Govt.) is no exception to it. Ratiya Marg, the main road that connects the area to the Mehrauli Badarpur road is in an absolutely miserable state with potholes and no proper covers on the roadside drain it is seriously a struggle to walk or drive on the road. Add to it the routine traffic due to the school buses of the two schools. Sangam Vihar has many private schools (Hamdard Public School, Tinu public school, Amrita public school, Savitri public school, Siwas public school, Baal niketan public school, KSK academy and many more).

Government schools have worse conditions due to ignorance of government officials (MCD , DDA and political parties). DMRC is opening new meeting lines in every developed area of Delhi but not for Sangam Vihar which is having the dense crowd and most of its population depends on 3 metro stations: Saket(60%), Govindpuri (35%) and Badarpur (5%). This clearly depicts that Sangam Vihar needs its own metro station, better performance from DDA and MCD and law and order.
