Sandy Walsh (born 14 March 1995) is a Belgian-Dutch footballer of Indonesian-English descent who currently plays for Belgian team Zulte Waregem, as a defender.[1][2]

International career

Walsh was born in Belgium to an English-born father of Irish descent, and a Swiss-born Dutch-raised mother of Indonesian descent.[3][4] He is therefore eligible for Belgium, Republic of Ireland, Indonesia, England, Switzerland, and Netherlands. He is a youth national for the Netherlands.[5]

Personal life

Walsh is of Indonesian descent through his mother whose parents come from Surabaya and Malang.[6][7][8] His father Gary Walsh is an Englishman and his mother Brigitta Portier a Dutch woman of Indonesian descent. He has a younger sister named Natasja Walsh. Both were born in Belgium.[9] Walsh's relationship with his grandfather was very close.
