Sampson (horse)

Sampson was a Shire horse gelding foaled in 1846 in Toddington Mills, Bedfordshire, England. He was the tallest and heaviest horse ever recorded.

Sampson, owned by Thomas Cleaver, stood 21.2 12 hands (86.5 inches, 220 cm) high by the time he was four years old, when he was renamed Mammoth.

His peak weight was estimated at 3,360 lb (1,524 kg).[1] He was gelded at approximately one and a half years old, and his testicles were already the size of footballs.[2]
