A referendum on the electoral law was held in San Marino on 22 September 1996.[1] Voters were asked four questions on changes to the electoral law and electoral system, all of which were approved by voters.[2]

Do you want to abolish Article 6 of law no. 6 of 31 January 1996, the "Electoral Law", which provides for travel into and out of the country for voters of elections to the Grand and General Council at the expense of the state?[3]
