Samir Bhatia is an Indian entrepreneur and is the Founder and CEO of SMEcorner.com. Samir is a Chartered Accountant and a Cost Accountant, and has worked with companies such as Citibank, HDFC Bank,[2] Barclays Bank[3] and Equifax.[4]

Education

Samir is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India and a Cost Accountant from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India. Samir qualified as a Chartered Accounant in November 1986 and stood 7th All India in the CA Final Exams.[5]

Career

Samir started his career with Citibank in 1987 and held several positions in financial control, credit and risk management corporate banking division.[6] In 1994, he was involved in setting up HDFC Bank. He has also served as the Managing Director,India and Indian Ocean with Barclays Global Retail & Commercial Bank. He was appointed as the Managing Director and CEO of Equifax[7] in November 2009 where he worked until March 2012.

SMEcorner

SMEcorner India's leading modern age lending company which offers quick access to unsecured business loans to micro, small & medium enterprises(MSME). Under this platform, it aims to minimize intermediary risk and extend transparency to the borrowing process, while assisting businesses in fulfilling their financial requirements.[8] SMEcorner is managed by a set of professionals who, have held prominent positions in the financial services industry. SMEcorner has also recently tied up with Flipkart in order to finance sellers.[9]

Volunteer experience and causes

Samir has volunteered for charitable organizations like UNICEF[10] in the past. He has been an Advisory Board Member at AmeriCares India.[11] Annual welfare is very close to Samir's heart and Samir is actively associated with various annual welfare organizations in India.

Marathon

Samir is an avid runner and takes a keen interest in fitness and, in particular, running. Samir has run numerous half-marathons and has completed 13 full marathons. Samir is one among just approximately 1000 people in the world to have completed world marathon majors (New York, Chicago, Berlin, Tokyo, London, and Boston). The race of champions, this is a series that consists of the largest and the most renowned marathons.
