Sameer Gehlaut (born 3 March 1974) is the founder and chairman of the conglomerate Indiabulls Group[1]. He is the 39th richest Indian, according to Forbes, with his net worth at $3.8 billion, as of September 2018.[2] He was the youngest self-made Indian billionaire when he first entered Forbes’ list of billionaires in 2008.[3]

Early life and education

He was born in Rohtak, Haryana, on 3 March, 1974. He completed his schooling from Model School, Rohtak and his graduation in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi in 1995.[4]

Business career

In 1999, he, along with his friend from college, Rajiv Rattan, bought a Delhi-based securities company Orbitech Pvt. Ltd., which also had a membership in the National Stock Exchange. They started their own online stock brokerage service and also got in another partner, Saurabh Mittal.[5] In January 2000, Indiabulls Financial Services Ltd. was officially incorporated.

Personal life

He is married to Divya S Gehlaut, who founded an art gallery in Mumbai called Gallery Odyssey.[6] The couple have two children together and they reside in Mumbai.[7]
