Samarpan maiti (born 26 September 1988) is a scientist, human rights activist and winner of Mr. Gay India 2018 and runner up for Mr Gay World 2018. [2]Now he is working as a model and as a research fellow of Kolkata Instutute of Chemical Biology.[3]

Early life

Samarpan was born in a small village of West Bengal, India. He is an elder son of his parents. After completing his higher secondary his father passed away. At that time, his age was only 17 years old. Then his mother was compelled to take a job in school. He was bullied at his school time by his friends, neighbours and even also teachers. He was attracted to girls at his adolescence time, but he completely realised his orientation when he got admitted in College.[4]

Later life

When Samarpan is in class ten; his father brought a TV for them. At the time of watching fashion show in TV, Samarpan realised he got affectionate to men. After death of his father Samarpan admitted for bsc in Midnapore College. That time he faced economical crisis. He got a friend whose name was Debasish ghosh. They were being good friends but people started to gossip about them. One day hostel authority asked them to stop talking with each other or to leave the college hostel. But Debasish became brave and decided to leave the college hostel together and rent a small house to live in.[3] And now Debasish and sister of Samarpan named Samarpita are married couple.

Award

Samarpan got awarded in Mr. gay world India (2018). In the final round a judge asked him the definition of love. In reply he said, Love is something in which you find inner peace without altering your true self Everyone was impressed by his philosophical answer. But another judge pointed out his English-speaking skills. Then the host named Rohini Ramnathan came forward and declared, Forget English. Why are we so obsessed with the language? This is not a platform to judge one’s English language skills. Then Samarpan was asked again to answer the same question in Bengali, and he did it. Everyone was pleased by his answer and according to Samarpan, it stole the show. After that he was eventually declared the winner and would represent India in the Mr, Gay World 2018 contest in South Africa.[3]
