Sam de Jong is a New Zealand record producer, songwriter, and musician. He is best known for his work as a producer and songwriter for artists such as Thirty Seconds to Mars, Gary Clark Jr., Stan Walker, Noah Kahan, Family of the Year, Benny Tipene, and Jackie Thomas.

Career

At 16 years old, de Jong began his career in the music industry as a touring drummer.[1]

De Jong was the producer and engineer of the 2013 self-titled debut album of Jackie Thomas, the first season winner of "The X Factor NZ".[1] The album was certified gold by the RMNZ and reached number one on the Official New Zealand Music Chart.[2]

De Jong has also worked with the runner-up and third-place contestants of "The X Factor NZ" season one, Whenua Patuwai and Benny Tipene.[1][3] In 2014, De Jong was the producer and engineer for Patuwai's first album, The Soul Sessions, which debuted at number four on the Official New Zealand Music Chart.[4] De Jong also produced and engineered Tipene's debut EP Toulouse, as well as his debut studio album, Bricks, which both reached number four on the Official New Zealand Music Chart,[5] and were both nominated for Best Pop Album at the 2014 and 2015 New Zealand Music Awards, respectively.[6][7]

In 2015, de Jong was the lead music producer for TV series "The X Factor NZ" and "Dancing With The Stars NZ".[1]

In 2016, de Jong signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV.[8] Since 2016, he has worked with artists including Thirty Seconds to Mars, Gary Clark Jr., Noah Kahan, NÏKA, Robinson, and Katy Perry-signed CYN.[1]

De Jong currently resides in Los Angeles, working with artists, writers, and producers such as MoZella, Emily Warren, Joel Little, and Mike Elizondo.[1]
