Sam Jay
Sam Jay is an American stand-up comedian and writer from Boston.[1]
Writing
In October 2017, Sam joined the writing staff of Saturday Night Live.[2] She co-wrote "Black Jeopardy."[3]
Comedy
Jay does not do self-deprecating humor. She comes from a stand-up background (not improv or sketch based). She recently released Donna's Daughter, an album of her standup performances. [4]

Filmography
Jay is known for appearing on Take My Wife and starring in a half hour stand up comedy special for Comedy Central's flagship Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents.[6] Compared to Patrice O’Neal,[7] Sam Jay won Funny Or Die's Road to Oddball Contest[8] and has received acclaim and attention for her performance at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.[9] She has also performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live.[10]
Jay also appeared on Netflix's Special The Comedy Lineup, which premiered on July 3, 2018 [11].
Personal life
Jay was born in Atlantia, but grew up in Dorchester, Boston.[12] Jay is a lesbian and recently got a divorce from her partner.
