Sam Ehlinger (born September 30, 1998) is an American football quarterback for the Texas Longhorns.
Early years
Ehlinger attended and played quarterback for Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, where he was coached by Todd Dodge. Ehlinger left as the school’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns.[1] He was named the MaxPreps National Junior of the Year after his junior season, and was rated by Rivals.com as a four-star recruit.[1][2] He committed to play football at the University of Texas on July 28, 2015.[2]

College career
Ehlinger made his first start for Texas on September 9, 2017, against the San Jose State Spartans after starting quarterback Shane Buechele was sidelined with a shoulder injury.[3] He led the team to a 56–0 victory and went on to start in subsequent games against USC and Kansas State. On October 6, 2018, Ehlinger also led the Longhorns to victory against rank 7 Oklahoma, by throwing for 314 yards, 2TDS, and rushing for 72 yards, 3TD. The Longhorns won the game 48-45.[4] This victory helped the Longhorns be ranked 9.
