Salem University, Lokoja is a privately owned university located in Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria. The institution was founded by Archbishop Sam Amaga, the motivator and president of Salem International Christian Center; the global international base of Foundation Faith Worldwide that was established by Sam Amaga Ministries International. Governance

The university is governed by the board of trustees, the governing council and the university management staff.

Chancellor

The chancellor of the university, Archbishop Dr. Sam Amaga, is the chief executive officer of the university. He also serves as the chairman of the board of trustees.

Pro-chancellor

Mr. James E. Ocholi (SAN) LLB (Jos) was the pro-chancellor of the university. He facilitated the decision-making and approval process in the university as well as the spiritual oversight of the university community. He also represented the interest of the proprietors on behalf of the chancellor by providing visionary, spiritual and administrative oversight for the university through qualitative pursuit of her vision and mission while serving as the custodian of her culture and values. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Vice-chancellor

The current vice-chancellor is Professor J.A. Fuwape, who replaced Professor Paul Omaji in 2012.

Deputy vice chancellor

Prof. Abraham Onugba is a professor of applied geophysics. He was dean of the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (2010–2012) and is currently the deputy vice-chancellor (2012 - date) of Salem University Lokoja. The office provides both academic and administrative leadership support for the vice chancellor by ensuring excellent and harmonious discharge of responsibilities assigned to him.

Registrar

Mrs B. F. Ocholi was the former registrar of the university. She was the chief administrative officer of the university and oversaw the administrative efficiency of the university engaging historical records and regulations. The registrar chaired the university's administrativeboard, which serves as the university's apex administrative organ and clearance house for all operational issues. She monitored rules, regulations and policies as well as made recommendations on policies to both senate and board of regents, where she served as secretary. May her soul rest in peace with the Lord.

School of Postgraduate Studies

Salem University is yet to begin postgraduate programmes.

Campus

The University is situated on its main and only campus in Jimgbe, Lokoja, where all its academic activities take place. All undergraduate students also reside here.

Sport

Sports as an extra curricular activity for staff and students is an essential part of the University experience. Included in the sports facilities are;

  • Lawn tennis court
  • Basketball court
  • Football pitch
  • Volleyball court etc.

Cafeteria

The Cafeteria houses two food vendors that cater for the meals of staff and students. It is located adjacent to the Halls of Residence and opposite the University Clinic. It has a main eating arena that can seat up to 500 people and three inner rooms that can seat up to 50 people each.

Chapel of Peace

COP handles the Transformational Academic Revolution (TAR. The Chapel of Peace is currently headed by the University's Chaplain, Rev. Fidel Ogwuche.
