Sacred Heart School, Logrono (Centro Educativo del Sagrado Corazón), La Rioja, Spain, is a Jesuit school, pre-primary through baccalaureate and technical, founded by the Society of Jesus in 1957.

Programs

In 1559 St. Francis Borgia founded the College of El Salvador in Logroño, located in the current Espolon, which served the area until the suppression of the Society of Jesus, in 1767. The Jesuits returned to the church of Saint Bartholomew in 1899. The College was refounded in 1957 at Mirasierra chalet. The current facilities date from 1961 and are the result of the merger of the schools of P. Marín, the Professional School, and the College.[1]

Sacred Heart Center offers schooling from early childhood and primary education through ESO, baccalaureate, and basic along with PCPI and higher level technical training cycles. The school is implementing the EFQM Excellence Model,[2] and offers the common Administration and Finance program.[3]

Striving for excellence

Students from the Dual and Bilingual Vocational Training Cycle are also schooled in entrepreneurship, new technologies, and social responsibility in companies.[4]

In 2016 Sagrado Corazón-Jesuitas received the Estrella de Europa award that the Logroño City Council grants annually to institutions distinguished for promoting European awareness and relationships between the different countries and with the programs of the European Union.[5] It also received the silver 'Q' de Plata award in 2007, for excellence in education.[6]

In a campaign conducted by the school, a red chair is placed in every classroom to remind students that there are 61 million in the world who are not able to attend school.[7]
