K R Sachidanandan (Malayalam: കെ.ആർ സച്ചിദാനന്ദൻ) popularly known as Sachy[1] or Sachi, is an Indian writer, theatre artist, film script writer, producer (in association with Biju Menon, Shajoon Karyal, P Sukumar and Suresh Krishna under the banner of Thakkali Films[2]) and director who is well known for his works in the Malayalam film industry. His collaboration with writer Sethu produced popular movies such as Chocolate (2007), Robinhood (2009), Makeup Man (2011) and Seniors (2012). He is noted for his engaging and entertaining style of script writing. His directorial debut was Anarkali starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and produced by Rajeev Nair under the banner of Magic Moon Productions. Sachy was associated with 2 movies in 2017; Ram Leela with Dileep,[3] and the Biju Menon starring Sherlock Toms[4] directed by Shafi.

Personal life

Sachy was born and brought up at Kodungalloor in Thrissur District, Kerala and is now living at Thripunithura (Cochin, Kerala). He completed his degree in Commerce from SNM College, Maliankara and an LLB from Govt. Law College, Ernakulam. He practiced as a lawyer in Criminal Law and Constitutional Law for 8 years in the High Court of Kerala.

During his college days, Sachy was active in his college film society and theatre, directing several plays.

Combination with Sethu (Sachy-Sethu)

He started of his venture in Malayalam Industry by collaborating with writer Sethunath. Their debut movie Chocolate was a success which led them to pair up for several movies. The next work together was Robin Hood which was directed by Joshiy, and later they teamed up for another comedy Makeup Man in 2011 directed by Shafi. They were successful again with comedy-mystery Seniors directed by Vysakh, but the duo split after Doubles (2011) failed to do well at the box office.[5]

After his break off with Sethu in 2011, Sachy continued his career as a writer and delivered the thriller Run Baby Run [6] with director Joshy which was one of the highest grossing Mohanlal movies that year. He later teamed up with director Shajoon Kariyal for the movie Chettayees (2012) starring Biju Menon, Suresh Krishna, Miya and Lal[7] which was not successful at the box office .[8] After Makeup Man Sachy associated with Shafi for the comedy thriller film Sherlock Toms starring Biju Menon which also was a failure. But debutant Arun Gopi’s Ram Leela, starring Dileep and released at the time of his arrest became a hit.

Producer

His most prominent friend circle includes Biju Menon, Shajoon Karyal, P Sukumar and Suresh Krishna. Their friendship was the major reason that led him to be part as Co-Producer for the movie Chettayees with them under the banner of Thakkali films.

Director

His first directorial venture Anarkali [9] was released in 2015. The movie was produced by Rajeev Nair under the banner of Magic Moon Productions. The direction of photography was handled by Sujith Vasudev while the music was composed by Vidyasagar. and starred Prithviraj, Biju Menon, and Mia George.
