Sportvereinigung Rapid Marburg, commonly referred to as SV Rapid Marburg or simply Rapid, was a football club from Maribor. The club was founded on 4 November 1909.[1] SV Rapid was formed by the Germanic part of Maribor's population, as the city had a strong German influence before and after the World War I. The club was later renamed to Sportklub Rapid. It was the strongest football team in Maribor after the World War I.[2] They defeated I. SSK Maribor 5–0 in their first league game in the Ljubljana Subassociation League. The second game was won by I. SSK Maribor 2–1.[2]
