The Singapore University of Social Sciences School of Humanities and Behavioural Sciences (SUSS SHBS) is an autonomous undergraduate and graduate school of the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS).

SUSS SHBS aims to educate individuals by sharping their three 'C's: critical analysis, creative thinking and communication. The programmes are aimed to cultivate appreciation and development of practical skills in the arts and social sciences.

The school offers a spread of programmes namely in Humanities: English Language and Literature, Chinese, Malay; Tamil; Translation and Interpretation; And Behavioral Sciences in Communication; Psychology and Sociology. [1][2]

History

  • In 17 November 2009, BA Chinese Language Education Programme (BACLE) was first launched with an intake of 36 students.
  • In 2018, the School was renamed to the School of Humanities and Behavioural Sciences (SHBS). Previously it was known as the School of Arts and Social Sciences (SASS).

Partnerships

On 17 November 2009, Then SIM University (UniSIM) and Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate in the BA Chinese Language Education Programme (BACLE).[3]

Clubs and Committees

PsyConnect

SUSS SHBS houses a SUSS Psychology student interest group, PsyConnect.

In 2018, PsyConnect clinched the bronze award in the Criminal Behavioural Analysis Competition (CBAC), as organised by the Home Team Behavioural Sciences Centre (HTBSC).[4]
