The National Informative Service (Albanian: Shërbimi Informativ Kombëtar) was an intelligence service agency created in 1991 by the Albanian People's Assembly. Commonly known as SHIK, it was the successor to Sigurimi, the notorious secret service agency which invoked terror during the communist period of 1944-1991. The agency would later change its name to SHISH.[1][2]
