SC50 bomb

The SC50 bomb (Sprengbombe Cylindrisch 50) was a type of drop ordnance or free fall bomb built by Germany during World War II. Used as a general purpose bomb, it had a one-piece drawn steel body and its total weight was 48 to 55 kg.[1] It was dropped in the early 1940s on London. The SC-50 was a German bomb dropped by the Luftwaffe on central London.

2015 Wembley bomb

In May 2015 a SC50 was unearthed in a building site on Empire Way, Wembley, London. Bomb disposal experts from 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal in the Royal Logistics Corps attempted to defuse it. It was later removed and detonated safely at a secret location.[2]

In the Dad's Army episode "Something Nasty in the Vault", an unexploded SC50 traps Captain Mainwaring and Sergeant Wilson in the bank vault.
