Russian Orthodox University (Russian: Российский православный университет) is an institution of higher religious education of the Russian Orthodox Church, established in accordance with the decree of Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus' Kirill I of Moscow. It is assumed that the newly formed university will provide educational services in accordance with the standards of secular and ecclesiastical education. As of May 2013 there is no official registration of establishment as a legal entity.[1]

The University - The Russian Orthodox Institute of Saint John the Divine (EPI). It is also planned to include a variety of specialized educational institutions. Rector of the newly appointed abbot of the University Peter (Yeremeev), Acting Rector of the FIR.

The university will be located on the territory of the temple complex in the name of St. John the Evangelist at the Elm - patriarchal Metochion in Kitai Gorod (on New Square), Moscow.
