Ruben Young

Ruben Young is an emerging Canadian R&Bsinger and songwriter from Calgary, Canada. He is best known for his collaborations “Rachel Green” with American rapper Hodgy from Odd Future,[1]and “Bad Habits” with JUNO winning rapper/producer Classified.[2] Ruben Young has developed a raspy timbre and modern soul- crooner vibe breathes influence from Marvin Gaye, Anderson Paak, and Amy Winehouse.


In 2017 Ruben released his first three singles independently through his own label, Young and Lucky. His debut efforts generated over two million streams, earned him a place on stage as direct support for international artists such as The Chainsmokers, Nelly, Akon and Classified, and a standing nomination for Urban Artist of The Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards.[3]

Rachel Green ft Hodgy

Young’s most recent single, “Rachel Green” is a modern soul ode to his 90’s dreamgirl played by Jennifer Aniston on the hit television sitcom, Friends.[4]The single was produced by Kuya (Alessia Cara, JRDN), and features a verse by Hodgy (formerly Hodgy Beats) from Odd Future.[5]It was released independently through Young’s own label, Young and Lucky, and was streamed nearly 90,000 times in its first 3 weeks since release.

50 Days YYC

Ruben is also the founder of the Calgary based 50 Days YYC Music Festivalin 2015.[6] The inaugural campaign consisted of 50 consecutive days of pop-up style performances, showcasing a different local artist and collaborative local brand every day. The festival showcased over 68 artists including JUNO nominee, Joanna Borromeo.[7]
