He has represented Edinburgh District at Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20 levels.[5]

He moved to Glasgow where he enrolled at Glasgow University to study law in 2017 under a Sports Bursar.[6][2]

Since moving west, Thompson has been playing with Glasgow Hawks in the Scottish Premiership.[7] He has praised Hawks' Head Coach Finlay Gillies, and current Glasgow Warriors players Peter Horne and George Horne in accelerating his rugby development.[8]

He was included in the second intake of the 2017–18 Scottish Rugby Academy season as a Stage 2 supported player in the Glasgow academy.[9]

Professional career

Thompson graduated to be a Stage 3 player in the Fosroc Scottish Rugby Academy for the 2018-19 season. Stage 3 players are given a professional contract by the Academy. He was placed in the Glasgow academy and assigned to Glasgow Warriors for the season.[10]

International career

Thompson came through the age grades at international level. He has played for Scotland U16 and Scotland U18.[3]

He played for Scotland U20 in the 2018 Six Nations Under 20s Championship and followed this up by representing the U20s at the 2018 World Rugby Under 20 Championship in France in the summer.[3][11]
