Ropewalk Barton upon Humber

The Ropewalk

The Ropewalk on Maltkiln Road, Barton upon Humber, Lincolnshire, England, is a regional centre for the arts.[1] Its facilities include five galleries and exhibition areas, a sculpture garden and a coffee shop.

Ropery Hall is a community performance venue for live music, theatre and cinema. Other facilities include a printmaking workshop, artists’ studios, meeting rooms and a picture framing department.

The main galleries feature changing exhibitions of fine art in all media, and the Craft Gallery has a display of handmade contemporary jewellery, studio ceramics, textiles and glassware for sale.

The Ropewalk is housed in the former ropewalk of Hall’s Barton Ropery, the longest Grade II listed building in the country. The factory closed in 1989.[2]

Ropewalk Museum is also located in the facility. Its exhibits focus on the history of the factory and its employees.
