Rompad in the Ramayana was a king of Angadesh and father of Shanta.[1]

History

Rompad, the king of Angdesh. He was a good friend of maharaja Dasharatha, the king of Ayodhya. Both of them were educated at the same ashram of sage Vasistha. Rompad’s wife was Vershini. Vershini was the elder sister of Kausalya. Rompad and Vershini had a daughter named Shanta who as married to sage Rishyasringa.

In Mahabharata Adhiratha, the chief charioteer of King Dhritrashtra, who adopted Kunti’s forsaken son named Karna, is said to be Rompad's descendant. [2]
