Coaching career

Hernando holds an UEFA Pro license. He began his career as a youth team coach for La Liga club Málaga CF[1] from 2009 to 2013. Following his time with Málaga, he worked for one year with the Royal Spanish Football Federation as a teacher for license courses. His next stop was in Dubai where he served as head coach and coordinator of the Michel Salgado Football Academy. He earned his first head coaching position with a top level club in 2016 as he was named the first-ever coach for Ulaanbaatar City FC in the Mongolia Premier League.[2]

After one season in Mongolia, he became an assistant coach at G.D. Estoril Praia of Portugal's Primeira Liga.[3] In May 2017 it was announced that Hernando had taken a short-term position as an assistant at SJK Seinäjoki of Finland's Veikkausliiga.[4]

In October 2017 he was announced as the new head coach of Peña Sport FC in the Spanish Segunda División B.[5]
