Robin Le Mesurier

Robin Le Mesurier (March 22, 1953 Kensington, London) as Robin Mark Le Mesurier Halliley) is a british guitarist, mainly known for long cooperation with Rod Stewart[1] and Johnny Hallyday.[2] Le Mesurier range was diverse, playing in bands such as The Wombles.[3]

Life

Le Mesurier is son of the british icon actors Hatti Jacques and John Le Mesurier.[4] Le Mesurier had a strong following during and after joining the reality show "Rehab", in which he opened up about alcohol excessive use.[5]

Music

In his prime he was a fan of "The Faces", and guitar stars Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and Jeff Beck. His first official band was the "Reign" (whose first single was written by the Yardbirds members Keith Relf & Jim McCarty). The band lasted till 1973, then Le Mesurier became the guitarist of the "Wombles", an english novelty pop-rock band whose musicians used to dress as the characters from children’s TV show The Wombles.

At the beginning of his cooperation with Rod Stewart, he was mainly a guitar-tech and a session man, then in 1976 he signed with a Rod Stewart related record company. He toured US with «Air Supply» in 1977 as opening act for Rod Stewart. After a period with the "Lion", eventually renamed «The Difference», in 1980 he was asked to join the Rod Stewart group. Fellow Londoner Jim Cregan allegedly said: "When he tunes a guitar you can see he plays so good". From 1987 to 1994 Le Mesurier was a sought-after session player in Los Angeles and Hollywood.

In 1994 he signed 2 tracks in french legend Johnny Hallyday first english record «Rough Town» ("Are the chances gone" and "Fool for the blues"). Le Mesurier became Hallyday's musical director, besides grounding "Farm Dogs" with Bernie Taupin and Jim Cregan.

In September 2015, Le Mesurier joined Rod Stewart and Rolling Stone Ron Wood for "The Faces" reunion, he had been a great fan since ever.
