Robert Taylor Jr. ( born 25 March 1999), commonly known as "Benteke", is a Liberian footballer who plays as a striker for Barrack Young Controllers FC FC in the Liberia First Division[1].

Early career

Born in Montserrado County, Taylor began to show off his skills as a footballer in his local community, Brewerville. His talent in the community caught the attention of several third division clubs that were after his services. After consultations with several clubs in the third and second division, Taylor agreed a deal to join third division outfit, Pags Football Club in order to develop as a footballer. He made a quick impact with the club as he went on to score some crucial goals that led the club to the Liberia National Third Division Playoffs. His goal scoring ability with the third division side never went unnoticed with several counties going after his services for the 2016-17 Liberian National County Meet. At the end of the third division season, he joined Gbarpolu County. While playing for Gbarpolu County in the Liberian National County Meet, he was spotted by Liberia First Division side Barrack Young Controllers FC[1].

At the end of the 2016-17, Taylor took a step forward in his football career when he joined the 2015-16 Liberia First Division club, Barrack Young Controllers FC[1]. Just coming from the lower tier of Liberian football, he was sent to the youth team of Barrack Young Controllers FC that plays in the Liberian Second Division League. His first year with the club became a remarkable one as he went on to help the club win the 2016-17 Liberian Second Division League title[1]. He score six goals in five appearances including a hat-trick against Small Town Football Club.

After a year with Barrack Young Controllers FC II, Taylor was promoted to the senior team ahead of the 2016-17 Liberian League season[1]. His impressive form with the junior side during the preseason encouraged the club's technical staffs that saw it necessary t promote him to the senior side for the new season[1].
