Robert G. Flanders Jr. (born July 9, 1949, Long Island, New York) is a Rhode Island attorney who served as an Associate Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court from 1996 to 2004. Flanders is a candidate for the Republican Party nomination for the US Senate election to be held in Rhode Island in November 2018. The contested seat is currently held by Sheldon Whitehouse, a member of the Democratic Party.

Profession

He had a career as a trial and appellate lawyer, including founding and leading a litigation law firm for 10 years. Then in 1996 he was appointed to Rhode Island's Supreme Court. After resigning from that position, Flanders resumed his private legal practice.[1]

Personal

Flanders grew up in a middle class household and is the oldest of seven children.
