Ridha Charfeddine (born 2 July 1952) is a Tunisian businessman, politician and sportsmanager and current president of Étoile du Sahel as well as UNIMED, a pharmaceutical company. He is also an MP since October 2014.

Early Career

Charfeddine was born in Sousse on 2 July 1952.[1] He received his Baccalaureate Certificate in Tunisia to continue his pharmacy studies in Bordeaux in France where he will receive his doctorate and return to Tunisia and pursue his career as a pharmacist in Sousse in parallel with teaching at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Monastir.

He decided to move to the private investment in the field of pharmaceutical industries to send UNIMED, the pharmaceutical industry to become one of the most important investors in the pharmaceutical industry in Tunisia. The man's business expanded into the real estate sector after he bought the real estate company «La Baie de Promotion Immobilière» in 2011. In 2011, he established "Medpack" which is a specialized company in the manufacture of cardboard in the framework.

The UNIMED company recovered later . In fact, Africa Intelligence magazine revealed that the investment fund of the French bank "Société Générale" bought 34% of its capital, which represented a new financial boost for the company, which expanded its export networks to include Algeria, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and West African countries.

In addition to the partnership between Italian company "Promochimica" and the establishment of laboratories for the manufacture of medicines in the city of Béja.

Sports Career

He took charge of the volleyball section of Étoile du Sahel. He was elected as president of the team on May 4, 2012, following the stripping of the former president Hafedh Hmaied and dissolving the administrative staff by a decision of the Court of First Instance in Sousse to become Charfeddine, the 20th president in the history of the team after the election of the administrative staff of the team in an extraordinary plenary session attended by 337.[1]

He managed to get the team out of his administrative and financial crisis and the team achieved many local and continental titles. With him, the team managed to win the Tunisian Cup in 2013 to be the first competition the team has won since 2008.

Political Career

In the October 2014 parliamentary elections he was elected to the Assembly of the Representatives of the People for Nidaa Tounes.[2]

He was a regional coordinator for the party in Sousse. He was appointed by the Political Committee of the Nidaa Tounes, to be the chair of the committee of preparing the conference of the Party which will be held on 25, 26 and 27 January 2019 in Tunis.

Private Life

On 8 October 2015 Charfeddine survived an assassination attempt near Sousse when the car he was travelling in was shot at various times.[3]
