Richmond High School (Missouri)
Richmond High School, located in Richmond, Ray County, Missouri, is the high school for the Richmond R-XVI School District. It is a comprehensive high school with approximately 450 students in four grades. Students follow a modified block schedule, with all classes meeting on Wednesdays and four of their classes meeting Monday/Thursday and the remaining four classes meeting on Tuesday/Friday. The Richmond R-XVI School District is fully accredited with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and with the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Richmond High is the home of the Spartans, and includes the following athletic programs: volleyball, football, cross country, softball, baseball, golf, tennis, basketball, wrestling and track. It boasts a new multipurpose building, a new artificial surface track, and has a proud athletic tradition. Academic programs in Ag Education, English, Science, Social Studies, Math, Business, Vocal and Instrumental Music, Drama, and Family/Consumer Sciences are enhanced by the Missouri A+ Program, Missouri School-to-Work Program, ACT training, and other after-school activities. The principal is Mr. John Eli Parker.
On January 11, 2017, Matt Lindsey, former basketball coach and deputy principal at Richmond High, and at the time principal of another area high school, was arrested after being accused of raping a student. He is accused of taking part in about 20 sexual encounters with a 16-year-old girl between 1997 and 1998.[1]
