Ricardo López Aranda

Ricardo López Aranda (20 December 1934 25 November 1996) was a Spanish realist playwright.[1] He wrote over 60 plays, half of which were staged. He authored several television scripts and screenplays. His screenplay for the film Close to the Stars, which was based on his play, won more than a dozen awards at various film festivals. He also wrote poetry, and published over 30 books of poetry.

Despite these achievements, he did not earn fame during his lifetime, perhaps due to his desire for anonymity. He did not have a wish to publish his works, although he did allow his plays to be performed.[2] His drew inspiration from the work of Arthur Miller for his screenplays.[3]
