Riad Bajić (Bosnian pronunciation: [rǐad bǎjitɕ]; born 6 May 1994) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Süper Lig club İstanbul Başakşehir, on loan from Udinese, and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

Bajić started his professional career with Željezničar, before moving to Konyaspor in 2015. Two years later he joined Udinese, who loaned him to İstanbul Başakşehir in 2018.

A former youth international for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bajić made his senior international debut in 2017.

Club career

Željezničar

Bajić is a product of Željezničar, whose youth academy he joined at the age of 9.[2] He debuted professionally on 16 July 2013 in a UEFA Champions League qualification match against Viktoria Plzeň.[3] Bajić scored his first goal for Željezničar against Mladost Velika Obarska on 19 October 2013.[4]

With 15 goals, Bajić finished 2014–15 season as league's top scorer.[5]

Konyaspor

In August 2015, Bajić was transferred to Turkish club Konyaspor, with whom he signed a three-year deal, for a fee of around €500,000.[6] He debuted for the club in a 1–1 draw against Akhisar on 15 August,[7] and scored his first goal against Gaziantepspor two months later.[8]

In January 2017 Bajić signed new and improved contract with Konyaspor until June 2020.[9] That season, he finished as the club's top scorer. His 17 goals were most league goals scored by Konyaspor player in a single season, beating the previous mark of 13, set by Theofanis Gekas.[10] He also helped Konyaspor win their first title ever, beating İstanbul Başakşehir on penalties in Turkish Cup final.[11]

Udinese

On 1 August 2017, it was announced that Bajić was transferred to Serie A side Udinese, for a fee in the region of €5.5 million.[12] His official debut for Udinese came in a 3–2 Coppa Italia win against Frosinone two weeks later.[13] He made his league debut on 17 September against Milan.[14]

On 20 January 2018, Bajić returned to Turkey by joining Süper Lig side İstanbul Başakşehir on a six-month loan deal.[15] A week later, he made his competitive debut for the club in a 5–0 win over Kardemir Karabükspor.[16] Bajić scored his first goal in a defeat to Alanyaspor on 9 March.[17]

In June 2018, his loan was extended for an additional season.[18]

International career

Bajić played for Bosnia and Herzegovina under-21 national team under coach Darko Nestorović.[19]

He received his first senior call-up in March 2015.[20] Bajić had to wait until 25 March 2017 to make his debut in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar, which Bosnia and Herzegovina won 5–0.[21]
