Refract Studios

Refract Studios is an indie video game developer consisting of Kyle Holdwick, Jordan Hemenway, and Jason Nollan. On November 16, 2012, Refract successfully funded a game called Distance using Kickstarter.[1]

History

Holdwick, Hemenway, and Nollan attended DigiPen, Institute of Technology, during which they worked on Nitronic Rush, a survival racing game with over 1 million downloads.[2] On October 16, 2012, Refract studios was created and announced Distance, the spiritual successor to Nitronic Rush. After raising more than $150,000[3] on Kickstarter, they began to refine the game with suggestions from Kickstarter backers and Early Access players who downloaded early builds of the game on Steam. Although Distance is a racing game, Hemenway notes that the game includes elements of "mystery," "psychological horror," and "thriller elements" making it "almost a platformer."[3]
