Ray Carolan is a former Gaelic footballer for Cavan.

Playing career

Ray Carolan was a midfielder and played his club football with Cuchulainns, the local team in Cross where he was born in 1943. He captained the St Patrick's College Cavan team to victory in the 1962 MacRory championship, receiving a newly commissioned cup which was replaced in 2012. His inspirational qualities helped Cavan win the Ulster Senior Championship in 1962, ’64, ’67 and ’69. He won Railway Cup medals with Ulster in 1964, ‘ 65, ’66 and ’68. He won two Cú Chulainn Awards in 1966 and '67.[1][2] He was a recipient of the 2008 Hall of Fame Award for the Limousin Breed.[3]
