Stefan Đurić (Serbian Cyrillic: Стефан Ђурић; born: 16 November 1989), professionally known as Rasta (Раста), is a Serbian recording artist and producer.

Life and career

Career

Đurić initially gained acclaim as a vocalist for promoting cannabis in his songs, although his first shot at mainstream success came in 2014 after his breakout single Kavasaki. In 2014, he collaborated with Gru on the track Dugme po dugme. Soon he became one of the most popular performers in Southeastern Europe, with songs generating massive fame, such as Cavali, Habibi (2015); Euforija and Hotel (2016). On 15 September 2018, Rasta held a concert in the Belgrade Arena, which is the biggest indoor-arena on the Balkans.

As a producer he started his own label Balkaton, which signed some of the biggest names in Serbian show business, such as Ana Nikolić and Dara Bubamara.[1]

Rasta was also the judge on Ja imam talenat! (Serbian version of Got Talent) in 2017.

Personal life

In 2016, he married Serbian pop singer Ana Nikolić, with whom has daughter named Tara (born 2017).[2]

Controversy

His "stage name" is linked only to smoking cannabis, and beside wearing "fashion dreadlocks" he does not display any features of Rastafarian culture. Thus, similar to Snoop Lion (and even worse since Lion at least did convert to Rastafari) he is considered to be a "pop dread" or an insult to a Rastafarian community worldwide.
